In 18 days, I'm moving away from home for the first time. I currently live in the "happiest place in earth", what could get better?? How about Hawaii?? Oahu to be exact.
How did I get here? I can barely remember... Its been a long, looong road.
6 months ago, I decided to move with a friend to Hawaii. How Hawaii? No idea really. I was thinking about San Francisco, just knowing I absolutely HAD to get out of here. After visiting San Francisco, I realized the hustle of the big city stressed me out and was fun to visit, but not where I wanted to live. My friend thought of Hawaii and said she would be willing to move there, and before I knew it... it was in the works.
Thats when EVERYTHING just began to happen.... It's like I could never in a million years doubt that this move was meant to be because everything just seemed to fall into place, easy as could be. I hope I don't jinx myself, because I still actually have to GET there. But to say i'm on a "lucky streak" is an understatement.
FIRST....
I got out of a nearly impossible lease to get out of by an insane, sporatic flood one rainy january day allowing me to move into my grandmas and start saving. I sell all my major belongings-- My couch, my tv(s), bed, etc. Things I don't need to store nor send. Basically I have me, my car (which I'm keeping for awhile), my dog and my clothes/toiletries.
Then, the unthinkable...actually, quite thinkable happens.
My friend and I decided to no longer go together to Hawaii. I had a feeling for awhile that things just weren't right. I didn't feel good about it and I couldn't figure out why. She didn't seem to want to go, I didn't trust her and we were no longer getting along. Long story short, we decided it was best we didn't go together.
Well, what the hell was I supposed to do? I quit pretty good job, sold everything I had, moved into my grandmas.... I had nothing here. Of course, my family is here as well as most of my friends. But besides that, there wasn't anything really keeping me around. And for once, I needed to learn not to depend on anyone but myself. I couldn't give up everything to move and then not go because someone else joining me didn't work out.
My sister called me and said her friend Matt "Spanky" just moved over to Oahu. I had met him a handful of times but figured it would be cool to know people. I also started talking to this girl Jenna who was already over in Hawaii. Basically, Spanky and Jenna meet, like each other and we all decide to look for a 3 bedroom place. Wow! How perfect that at least I could maybe have roommates and not walk off the plane knowing no one but my dog!
We kept talking, and we were having problems finding a place that was Bentley- Friendly :( I was pretty disappointed. I put up an ad on craigslist and got this reply and actually ignored it because I thought it was a scam. It was too good to be true. The price was crazy, the location was INSANE, it was not oooooooonly dog FRIENDLY, she also described a dog run for exercise!
3 BEDROOM PENTHOUSE
5TH FLOOR (top shared with one other apartment)
1.7 MILES TO WAIKIKI BEACH
We share the top floor with one other neighbor... And its a gorgeous neighborhood. Close to everything with beautiful views and lots of space.

It's pretty amazing. And just happens to be the same in rent that I paid here in SLO. Except, at least for awhile I don't need a car. I will need to figure out the job situation.once I get there, but I do have a couple interviews lined up, so I have been fortunate enough to possibly have some opportunities. I'll hope for the best :) I have some $$ saved up, but not really what I expected to have. If WORSE comes to WORSE, I have my car I can sell.
Anyways, finding great roommates, a great apartment, some potential job openings... I am VERY VERY excited. I knew that I would need to start updating this more often since I won't see my friends and family nearly as often and because of the time difference, we won't be talking as much as I would like most likely.
So here I am moving to a place I have never even visited knowing no one but my roommates, whom I just recently really met, thousands of miles away from here. But I really have faith that it will all work out. Living here, in this small town, has just been static and repeatative. I need a fresh start, a change of pace for awhile. It may be a short term vacation, it may be a lifetime thing, I have no idea. I highly doubt I wouldn't one day end up back here, but who really knows what the future holds? I have definitely figured out that i have no answers and no clue...so I'm just going with what feels right. And this move definitely feels right.

On top of the excitement of getting ready to move, I also had surgery and have been confined to my house. It's been kind of a bummer because I really would like to be more active right now and feel better. It's been frustrating not being able to be myself 100 percent.
I did have an AMAZING going away party with all my closest friends and family. Lindsay was in town with Gentry, her toddler, all the way from Illinois and she came with her sister Chelsea. Ashley, John and their baby Rilynne came, as well as Angela, Marla, Jina and Jovanna, her daughter, my coworker Luke and his wife Britaini, Bri, Bonnie, My cousins Gaby and Jovanna and aunt Eileen and Grandma, Grace. It was really fun and I had a great time.
