"If you don't get lost, there's a chance you may
never be found."
Hawaii has been treating me extremely well. I am so happy here that I realized the other day...
"Wow, this feels like the happiest I may have EVER been"...
I sure do miss my friends and family, but I am enjoying my independence at the same time. Being here without the friends and family I always depend on, has forced me learn how to do things on my own. I have learned so much in one short month and I am so excited to continue learning about myself, and society as a whole.
I love not knowing where I am... forced to find my way around a new place. I love trying out new forms of transportation in place of a car (bike, bus, walking, running). I love meeting new people and learning to test my comfort zone and force me to put myself out there. I love trying to improve myself physically, mentally and emotionally. I love bringing Bentley to new places to meet new dogs. I love planning out my "Bucket List" and makings lists of things I want to do with my family when they come to visit. I love my roommates. I love my job. I love HAWAII. And I love my life.
I have also learned a lot about myself in the short time I have been here. Some good things and some not-so-good things that I really need to work on and hope to improve on. Even though some of the traits I have discovered within myself are not traits that I am happy with, I am happy to discover them so that I can improve them. I want to be the best version of myself that I can be.
I've learned that there are SO many guys out there. San Luis Obispo, my hometown, is SMALL.
I've learned that I have absolutely NO idea how to flirt and I'm a total coward around boys I like.
I've learned that I totally have some OCD tendencies I want to work on.
I've learned that you can get over just about anyone, as long as you have some distance between you-- literally and figuratively.
I've learned that when you have no one to take care of you, you are forced to take care of yourself.
I've learned there is so much more out there than what is within 100 miles.
