Lauryn's inventions that turned out Fabulous: #1 Low-calorie homemade juice

Okay, so I LOVE smoothies, but they are usually packed with calories and take place of a meal.  I want them for a snack!  So I decided to make my own as low calorie as possible.

And I came up with something good!  I, personally, hate drinking my calories... I'd rather eat something yummy..which I'm cooking and will tell you about next.

Didn't try it but it would be AMAZING as a cocktail.  I'll get on that ; )

Also, did I mention: Extremely cheap.  Also, if you take nutrient supplements, they can be added to this with slight taste change.

This was Mango.  Used 1 real Mango, 5 cal. sugar free juice,
ice, and juice concentrate. Add more juice if you want a fruit juice.
Add more Ice for a smoothie texture.

Recipe: "aLOha Skinny Smoothie"

Makes 1 smoothie for 1 person for a week ; ) I make it almost every morning.

Benefits:
  • Non Dairy,
  • Only Natural Sugar (fruit),
  • Cheap,
  • Fast.
  • 150 calories. 0 fat.

Groceries:

1 Tray ice cubes (free)
1 frozen concentrated orange, guava, orange-pineapple, orange- banana... get
   creative ($2.50)
1 Pineapple fresh ($3)
Extra fruit optional... I'm broke, so I didn't have any, but I usually add
   blueberries and strawberries (frozen) ($3)
Sugar Free Fruit Punch ($2.50)

Total Groceries: $7

Per Smoothie Directions:

4 ice cubes
1 spoonful of concentrated juice
about 6 oz. of juice (see picture)
2 handfuls of real fruit (frozen, but I recommend fresh pineapple!!)

taaaadaaaa..... Easy! Now here's the trick. Press BLEND and let it BLEND for a full minute.  The juice/smoothie comes out suuuuuper creamy and frothy.  Yum!  Make sure you blend it a full minute! We don't want ONE chunk-- EWW!!! To make it more sour, stick to orange fruit and concentrate.  For sweeter, stick to berry fruit and concentrate. To make it thicker, add bananas...and 100 calories.

This is Guava-Passion-Orange! Yum!
Be creative-try different flavors.  Orange
makes for a subtle sour kick,
always recommended.

Total for 1 smoothie a day for a week: $7-8

aaaaand you have fruit punch for weeks!

I'm watching the calories, watching the wallet and bored so I'm making inventions!

...If anyone tries it, let me know what you think!!!

*Try adding any different kind of fresh or frozen fruit, different concentrate flavors.

10 minutes in and its still frothy ; )
*Use as a cocktail. Add the Vodka or Rum of your choice.  Possibly tequila if you use lots of oranges and even lemon or lime?

*Add more sugar free juice to make it more of a juice texture.  For more of a smoothie texture, add less juice and more ice and fruit.  Add bananas and yogurt if you would like to, but its a lot of extra carbohydrates and calories and if you try this ONCE, you will see you don't need to.  TRUST ME!
